Convene the 2023 Annual Conference and the 30th Anniversary Celebration of the Establishment of the Agricultural and Plastic Products Branch

On November 2nd, the Agricultural Plastic Products Branch of the China Association of Agricultural Plastic Application Technology held its 2017 annual meeting and the 30th anniversary celebration of the establishment of the Agricultural Plastic Products Branch. More than 160 enterprises and more than 330 representatives attended the celebration. The attending leaders and guests analyzed the difficulties encountered in the development of China's agricultural film industry and proposed solutions. Ma Zhanfeng, Deputy Secretary General of the China Plastics Processing Industry Association, said that from January to August, the total agricultural film production of enterprises was 1.5887 million tons. Due to its agricultural inputs, the low profit margin of agricultural films is difficult to change. The upgrading of processing technology and equipment, updating of technical backbone training, and R&D investment cannot keep up with the market demand for multifunctional, high-performance, and long-life high-end agricultural films, resulting in prominent contradictions. In addition, due to the decrease in downstream market demand, the increase in production cost factors, and the increasing pressure of environmental inspections in recent times, the survival environment of agricultural film enterprises is severe.

Zhang Zhenhe, President of the China Society of Agricultural Plastic Application Technology, stated that during the 13th Five Year Plan period, the focus should be on developing various single-layer and multi-layer composite greenhouse films with functions such as longevity, dripping, insulation, defogging, anti bacterial and anti mold, dust-proof, light conversion, high transparency, and high scattering, as well as mulching films with functions such as weeding, warming, degradation, and insect prevention, such as degradable mulching films and synchronous mulching films with functions and lifespan. The focus should be on developing supporting facilities such as five layer or more multi-layer co extruded film production lines and micro/nano stacked co extruded forming equipment. Actively developing cutting-edge technologies such as modified polyester agricultural greenhouse film production technology with a lifespan of over 5 years and fluoroplastic greenhouse film production technology with a lifespan of over 15 years.

Qin Lijie, President of the Agricultural Plastic Products Branch of the China Society of Agricultural Plastic Application Technology, stated that after more than 30 years of development, by 2016, China's total agricultural film production had reached over 2.6 million tons, with a greenhouse film coverage area of over 66 million mu and a plastic film coverage area of 390 million mu, accounting for more than 68% of the world's total. The number of agricultural film varieties has also increased to more than 30. Through continuous technological breakthroughs, China's agricultural film technology has made rapid progress. Aging resistant greenhouse films mainly produced with metallocene linear polyethylene and C4 linear polyethylene have a service life of 3 years, but the thickness of greenhouse films in China is lower than that in developed countries such as Europe, America, and Japan.

The conference commended outstanding individuals who have worked in the agricultural film industry for 30 years and enterprises that have made outstanding contributions in technological innovation.
